Note for Friday – Costume Day – no blood, gore, weapons, masks or excessive face paint
WELCHES HARVEST FESTIVAL – 10/25/24
Welches Harvest Festival will be on Friday, October 25th.
Students K-8 will be doing various fun activities throughout the day.
Students can come to school in costume with some guidelines.
- No masks
- No blood, gore or weapons
- Minimal face paint – we need to be able to recognize our students
- Costumes must be something students can wear all day at school, including comfortably sitting at their desks, participating in PE and other school day activities.
WELCHES PICTURE RETAKE DAY – 10/30/24
Retake Day Information
Here is who should go to the camera on retake day:
· Any student that was absent on the original picture day
· Any new students who have not been photographed.
· Students wanting a retake photo. If a student ordered a package and wants a new photo please have them return the original package to the photographer on retake day.

** Reminder: Parents can order online at mydorian.com before picture day and up to 2 days afterwards.

MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
If you would like the office to give your child medications at school, we need to have a signed medical authorization form (available in the school office) filled out along with the medications.
This includes anything that is medicated, including Neosporin and cough drops.
- Parents must bring the medications into the school office. Please DO NOT send medications in student's backpacks.
- Medication must be in its original container and/or with a current Rx label.

The medication must be FDA approved for children under 18.

OREGON BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
The Welches PTCO is running this year's Oregon Battle of the Books program (aka OBOB)! This is a great way to get your kid excited about reading, and a fun program and competition. We handed out information/ sign-up packets recently and wanted to remind you to turn in those forms ASAP!
If you have a student who wants to participate but has not been able to find a team, please turn in a form without the team section filled out and email Ally at info@welchesptco.org and she will do her best to assist you in finding a team to join.
Please see attached OBOB packet for more information. Your student can get a paper copy of the form in the office as well.

WELCHES BOYS BASKETBALL SIGNUPS OPEN
It is time to start signing up for Boys Basketball!! WMS basketball is a no-cut sport open for 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys. Please register through FamilyID.
In order to be cleared to participate, all of the following criteria must be met. YOU MUST...
- Be academically eligible
- Complete FamilyID's on-line registration

Have a current physical - turned into the School Office or attached to FamilyID
- A $55 athletic fee must be paid to the office - cash & check only
Please make sure you have a current physical on file. Physicals are good for two years. If you need to renew your physical, click the link below.

READING IS FUNDAMENTAL DINNER – LIONS CLUB
The Lions Club will be having their RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) Dinner on Saturday, October 26th at 7:00 pm. They will be serving a delicious steak and prawn dinner.
This event funds the RIF Program at Welches Schools. Students get to visit the Lion’s Club to get free books, snacks and enjoy guest readers.

MT. HOOD WILDFIRE READY HOMEOWNERS WORKSHOP
Mt. Hood area homeowners and wildfire partners,
You’re invited to the fall Mt. Hood Wildfire Ready Homeowners Workshop! This free workshop will be held at the Welches Middle School on November 2, from 9am-1pm. Sessions will include topics on home hardening, evacuation planning, and home insurance considerations.
