WELCHES WEEKLY UPDATE!
DECEMBER 13, 2024
Our Wildcat Wisdom Trait for December is Compassion
This month our Wildcat Wisdom trait is Compassion. Students will be learning that compassion means we care about others and want to help people in need. Students will be coming home with a family activity called "Compassion BINGO".
Throughout the month of December, spend time talking about ways to show compassion. As a family, complete a task and cross it off your BINGO card. When you complete a BINGO, turn in the Compassion BINGO to the front office. Students will get a thank you ticket for returning their BINGO card and be entered into a raffle. Winners of the raffle will be chosen the morning of Friday, December 20th!
CANNED FOOD DRIVE!
Welches School will be having a canned food drive benefiting the Hoodland Community Holiday Baskets Program starting
December 2nd through December 17th.
The canned food drive is also a class competition! All elementary classes will be competing against each other for a class party (either popcorn or ice cream). For middle school, this will be an Advisory competition. The winning Advisory class will receive the coveted trophy and a class popcorn or ice cream party.
Great food items are boxed dinners, cereals, canned vegetables, fruits, rice, dried beans, chili, tuna, peanut butter and soups.
Please make sure expiration dates are past January 2025 to help us create less waste.

NOTICE OF STATEWIDE ASSESSMENTS
Oregon’s statewide assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics will take place in April and May at Welches School.
The assessments provide our students in grades 3-8, and their families, one measure of academic achievement and growth. They also help our school and district evaluate our system of teaching and learning.
Oregon permits parents/guardians to annually opt out of statewide summative tests in ELA and/or Math by submitting a form, and they may also request exemptions from other assessments (OSAS Online Science, ELPA Screener, ELPA Summative, ORExt Science Assessment). These forms are available on our website at https://oregontrailschools.com/6840_2
