WELCHES GIRLS BASKETBALL & WRESTLING REGISTRATION OPEN
Welches Girls Basketball and Wrestling registration are now open. Specific details for each sport are listed below, but the following information applies to both:
- Registration must be done using the In-Touch registration portal, linked below.
- A current, approved physical needs to be on file at the school’s office. Official form also linked below.
- The participation fee is $55 for each sport. Cash or check can be sent to the school office, or we now have a convenient online payment option that can be accessed through the registration process.
- Student-Athletes can not be failing any classes and need a 2.0 GPA or higher (this doesn’t mean students can’t join the team, they just need to bring their grades up to be eligible for competitions).

Registration Process
- Please read this document first. I know we never like reading the directions first :), but it will save a lot of time and frustration in the long run.
- Go to the In-Touch Website to register your middle schooler for athletics at Welches.
Girls Basketball information:
The season runs January 6th to the first week of March and will be five days a week, Monday through Friday. Practices will be right after school from 4:00 - 5:45 pm (including early release Wednesdays) with one or two games a week. Depending on which team your middle school student is on, games begin at 4:30 or 5:45. A schedule will be given to the girls during the first week of practice and posted on the school’s website.There are no cuts in middle school sports, so all 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls that want to play basketball will make a team.
What to bring: court shoes, athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and a water bottle. Wear comfortable clothing that is suited for being physically active in the gym.
Wrestling Information
The season runs January 8th to the first week of March and will be five days a week, Monday through Friday. Practices will be held at Cedar Ridge Middle School from 3:00-5:00 (including early release Wednesdays), with usually one meet a week. All middle schools in the Oregon Trail School District combine to form one team, with practices and home meets held at Cedar Ridge. Student-athletes from Boring, OTA, and Welches will be bussed to Cedar Ridge. There is no bus home, so wrestlers must be picked up at Cedar Ridge when practices or meets are over. Meets will be held once a week, with schedules handed out at the parent meeting.
Wrestling is open to all middle school students. boys and girls, grades 6,7,8.
What to bring: athletic shoes, athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and a water bottle. Wear comfortable clothing that is suited for being physically active. Wrestling shoes are recommended, but not required.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE!
Welches School will be having a canned food drive benefiting the Hoodland Community Holiday Baskets Program starting
December 1st through December 12th
The canned food drive is also a class competition! All elementary classes will be competing against each other for a class party (either popcorn or ice cream). For middle school, this will be an Advisory competition. The winning Advisory class will receive the coveted trophy and a class pizza or ice cream party.
Great food items are boxed dinners, cereals, canned vegetables, fruits, rice, dried beans, chili, tuna, peanut butter and soups. (No ramen noodles please)
Please make sure expiration dates are past January 2026 to help us create less waste.

LAST DAY: To turn in forms is Friday, December 12th at 2:00 PM
Your food and gifts will be ready for pick up at the Mt. Hood Lions Club on-
Friday December19th from 4 to 7 PM OR on
Saturday December 20th from 11 AM to 2 PM
Family boxes NOT picked up by Tuesday, December 23rd and excess food will be given to a local food pantry for their use in our community.
An Adult listed on the application must show ID at time of pick up or delivery.
Delivery for Seniors, homebound, and disabled individuals is available on Saturday, December 20th only from 10:30 – 11:30 am.
Hoodland Community Christmas Baskets is a not for profit organization and is not affiliated with the Oregon Trail School District.
NOTICE OF STATEWIDE ASSESSMENTS
Oregon’s statewide assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics will take place in April and May at Welches School.
The assessments provide our students in grades 3-8, and their families, one measure of academic achievement and growth. They also help our school and district evaluate our system of teaching and learning.
Oregon permits parents/guardians to annually opt out of statewide summative tests in ELA and/or Math by submitting a form, and they may also request exemptions from other assessments (OSAS Online Science, ELPA Screener, ELPA Summative, ORExt Science Assessment). We are excited to be offering Welches Spirit Wear to Welches staff and families.
Welches Schools has partnered with BrewCrew Printing to offer a variety of Spirit Wear. There are short and long sleeve t-shirts, shorts and sweats and hoodies, in a variety of colors and designs.

SUPPORT YOUR NEIGHBORS WORKSHOP
Clackamas Women's Services is facilitating a Support Your Neighbors workshop and conversation to discuss how we can support domestic violence survivors in our lives and create a safer community together.
We have made some updates to the session based on everyone's feedback, and I invite you to register for this session if you are interested in joining again or if you weren't able to make it in October.
