Welches Weekly Update - 3/6/26

Posted Date: 03/06/26 (09:00 AM)

WELCHES WEEKLY UPDATE!

MARCH 6, 2026

WILDCAT WISDOM FOR MARCH IS ACCOUNTABILITY

This month our Wildcat Wisdom trait is accountability. Accountability means being responsible for your actions. In school we can show accountability by taking ownership of our actions and using obstacles as an opportunity for achievement.

FUTSAL & TRACK REGISTRATION OPEN!

FUTSAL

Registration for futsal is open! Futsal is a no-cut sport open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Futsal will be a combined middle school sport. Boring, Cedar Ridge, OTA and Welches will all come together to practice and compete. Practices will be held three days a week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday) at Cedar Ridge and transportation to the school will be provided via bus. Futsal athletes must be picked up from Cedar Ridge at 5:00 on practice days.  Game days will vary, based on location. A schedule will be shared with parents via the coach at the beginning of the season

Important Dates:

Futsal registration deadline is March 30th and the first practice starts April 6th.

 TRACK

Track & Field registration is OPEN and practice will start on Tuesday, March 31st. Practice will be held Monday thru Friday at Welches from 4:00-5:45 pm. Practice will be at the same time on Wednesdays, student-athletes will have a study hall during early release. All students will need to have transportation after practice. All meets will be held on Thursdays, and our home meets will be at Sandy High. Each athlete will need a pair of athletic shoes (track spikes aren’t required, but some families do purchase them) and clothes to be physically active in. Track is an outdoor sport, so wear layers and plan on dressing for a variety of spring weather conditions.

Important Dates:

Track registration deadline is March 30th and the first practice starts March 31st.

As a reminder, we have moved to a NEW online registration for sports. The OTSD will be using the InTouch platform, which allows you to sign in with your OTSD ParentVue email. Depending on if you have used InTouch it will prompt you to make a password, or use the password you have already created. Many families used this platform last year to pay for athletics and other activities. This platform is expanding and now is able to register our athletes for sports.

A new feature with InTouch allows families to register for ALL SPORTS at one time. However, this is not mandatory.

Please follow the steps below to register your athlete:

1. Link - InTouch

2. Username (email in synergy, the one that you gave the school). If you did not create an account last year, you will need to create a new account and password.

3. Sports Physical - registration requires an uploaded document, if your child's up to date physical is on file, you can just upload a note stating that. Your physical needs to be uploaded in a PDF format. Otherwise the school cannot see the entirety of the form

4. Athletic Fee is $55.00. Scholarships are available (contact WMS office).

SPIRIT WEEK – 3/16 – 3/20

Monday - dress like a teacher (teachers can dress like students)

Tuesday - dress like a viking (WMS), wear green (WES)

Wednesday - dress like a friend or family member

Thursday - dress like your favorite musician

8th GRADE PROMOTION – BABY PICTURES NEEDED!

One of the favorite features of our 8th grade Promotion Ceremony is the Memory Slideshow. To make it special, we need pictures of the 8th grade students as babies or toddlers. Please send all digital pictures to our slide show coordinator, Stephanie Smith, at ssmith0811@yahoo.com.

Please be sure to include the students' name in the subject line so we can ensure that every student is included in the slideshow.

If you do not have a digital copy but have a hard copy of the picture, send it in an envelope, with the student's name on the back of the picture and on the envelope. We will scan it, and then give the original back to you.

We will be communicating about upcoming planning meetings and promotion details in the coming weeks.
